The Geneva Fair, one of the largest in Europe, encouraged \ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\ude01\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude01 \ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddf1\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude01\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddff \ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf4\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf1\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddf9\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude01 \ud835\uddee\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddf4\ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\ude01\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf3\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf0 \ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf0\ud835\ude02\ud835\ude00\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, a small fleet of boats was assembled and stationed at Chillon Castle by \ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfa\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\udde6\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude03\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf2, \ud835\uddfe\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddf6 \ud835\uddee\ud835\ude02 \ud835\udfed\ud835\udff4\ud835\uddf2\u0300 \ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf2\u0300\ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddfc\ud835\ude00\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf2\u0300\ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude01 \ud835\uddf9'\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf2\u0300\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf2\u0301 \ud835\uddf1\ud835\ude02 \ud835\udddf\ud835\uddf2\u0301\ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddfb. Rivalries between the Genevese, Bernese and Savoyards gave rise to real \ud835\uddef\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude03\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00. Over time and in times of peace, these boats were occasionally used to transport goods and, with the expansion of towns in the 19th century, eventually became real lake transport. It was from this time onwards that these boats were developed for \ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\ude01\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddff\ud835\ude01 \ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude00\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddff\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddf0\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfb, \ud835\ude01\ud835\uddfc\ud835\ude02\ud835\ude01 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddff\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf0\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf2\u0300\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude01 \ud835\uddee\u0300 \ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddee \ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf2\u0300\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\udde0\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf2, the main Franco-Swiss supplier to the Lake Geneva coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"808\" height=\"664\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.asleman.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/56b.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5889\" srcset=\"https:\/\/asleman.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/56b.png 808w, https:\/\/asleman.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/56b-300x247.png 300w, https:\/\/asleman.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/56b-768x631.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 808px) 100vw, 808px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>These boats are on average \ud835\udfef\ud835\udfec \ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddf2\u0300\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf4 \ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude01 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddf2\u0300\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude01 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf2\u0300\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\udff3\ud835\udfec \ud835\ude01\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00! These are real \"buildings\" that need to be moved. What's more, their system of pivoting sails and antennae requires a \ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf6\u0302\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf3\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf2 in order to steer these large vessels safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1900, around sixty boats were operating on the lake. Subsequently, the development of the rail network put a relatively rapid end to the use of boats, including \ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddee \ud835\uddfe\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf6-\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddfc\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf2\u0301 \ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddff\ud835\ude02 \ud835\uddee\ud835\ude02 \ud835\udfee\ud835\udfec\ud835\uddf2\u0300\ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf2\u0300\ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Savoie, built between 1997 and 2000 by a group of enthusiasts, is a replica of the Savoie 513, built according to the plans of the builders of the time, using materials and tools from that era!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, there are \ud835\udff1 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddef\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude00 vintage boats still sailing on Lake Geneva: \ud835\udddf'\ud835\uddd4\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf2, \ud835\udddf\ud835\uddee \ud835\udde9\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf2, \ud835\udddf\ud835\uddee \ud835\udde1\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfd\ud835\ude01\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf2, \ud835\udddf\ud835\uddee \ud835\uddd7\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude01 \ud835\udddf\ud835\uddee \ud835\udde6\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude03\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf2.
