Clean-up of the reed beds at Les Grangettes on 7 March 2020 - The ASL is taking part!

Every year, thanks to the commitment of many volunteers, tonnes of wood and plastic waste are collected during the traditional clean-up of the reed beds at Les Grangettes (Noville, VD). In the leap year of 2020, the lake will be lower, so we'll be able to collect more wood, so come one, come all!

During this action, the use of a helicopter to carry away the nets, loaded with some 800 kg, helps to limit trampling of the shoreline. Some of the wood is recycled for heating or decoration by the public, who come and help themselves until 8 April. The rest is taken care of free of charge by SATOM. The heat released is used for district heating and to generate electricity for the regional incineration plant.

This year, the ASL is taking part in the Grangettes clean-up as part of its major operation Stop knotweed. The clean-up on 7 March will be an opportunity for the ASL to begin taking charge of a knotweed outbreak in the reserve throughout the year.
