Lémaniques is the ASL's newspaper that tells the story of Lake Geneva, its challenges, its victories and those who are committed to the lake. And the good news is that the new issue has just been published! It's an expanded edition (16 pages instead of 12), beautifully illustrated with photos by ornithologist Lionel Maumary.
In the flagship article, «When Lake Geneva takes on an oceanic air», Lionel Maumary takes us to the heart of westerly storms, when the lake becomes a refuge for seabirds from far and wide: Common Eiders, Terns, Kittiwakes, Skuas, Gannets... An astonishing journey between Lake Geneva, the Mediterranean, the Atlantic and the Arctic tundra, revealing just how connected the lake is to the rest of the living world.
This issue also features ASL news, including: environmental education activities around Lake Geneva, a look back at the exhibition «Lake Geneva, the awakening of a people» at Espace Léman ASL's dealings with the authorities to defend the health of the lake, or the ASL's participation in the Swiss Plastic Action coalition against plastic pollution.
