Espace Léman is closed until 15 September to set up the next exhibition, "Léman, l'éveil d'un peuple", which we invite you to visit from 16 September.

Nature centre dedicated to Lake Geneva

Dive into the world of lakes, observe the flora and fauna under the microscope and test your knowledge with our identification sheets.

Designed as a showcase for biodiversity, the arcade presents the flora and fauna of Lake Geneva and the threats to this unique ecosystem.

Located in the heart of Eaux-Vives (GE), Espace Léman encourages direct contact with the public, enabling you to discover the lake in a whole new way and become aware of the importance of sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems (lake, rivers) and water resources.

Espace Léman is open Monday to Friday from 11am to 5pm.

With the support of Vitale Green Electricity Fundthe Canton of Genevathe City of Geneva and the Loterie Romande.

Lake Geneva, the awakening of a people

A tale of struggle, resilience and hope.

From 16 September to 14 December 2025, the ASL invites you to the Espace Léman to discover a unique exhibition looking back at a little-known chapter in the lake's history: its slow asphyxiation between the 1960s and 2000, before being (almost) saved thanks to the determined efforts of civil society.

Through a journey rich in documents, testimonies, objects and audiovisual archive extracts, the "Léman, l'éveil d'un peuple" exhibition retraces the decisive action of associations, scientists, fishermen, journalists and institutions that helped turn the tide. At a time when new threats are hanging over the lake, the exhibition is also a reminder that every individual can, in turn, become an agent of change.

Open every day from 1pm to 6pm (closed Mondays and Saturdays)

Are you passing through Eaux-Vives? Then don't hesitate to stop off at our new Espace Léman.

Take a look through the microscopes to see the biodiversity of Lake Geneva and have fun recognising the different species thanks to our clues and identification sheets. Find out more about one of the issues the ASL is currently focusing on: plastics and their fragmentation.

Computer graphics, publications and books are available to enhance your visit. Our specialists look forward to meeting you there to answer your questions and help you discover the wealth of biodiversity on Lake Geneva.

Scientific workshops are aimed primarily at schools (5-8H and above). These 120-minute events are designed to raise awareness of Lake Geneva and its biodiversity, with the following activities:

  • Identification of 25 species using clues and determination keys
  • Classification of species by group (based on their attributes)
  • Interactions between species
  • The importance of habitat diversity in supporting aquatic life
  • Thanks to our financial partners, we can offer a number of workshops free of charge to schools. Registrations will be made at the start of the school year via the DIP (Geneva) portal.
