Lake Geneva is the largest pre-alpine lake – one of the great fresh water bodies on our continent.
Lake Geneva and its water cycles have sustained the lives of living communities – human and more-than-human – for millennia.
Lake Geneva and its waters sustain the lives of a good million people every day (and several million more downstream). Situated across multiple divides (hydrographical, historical, geological, cultural, etc.), Lake Geneva is a truly unique body of water. By listening to it – at the level of its wisdoms and its problems – the entire Lake Geneva region is redrawn.
This exhibition presents the results of a two-year transdisciplinary field survey. Through dialogue with residents and water stakeholders broadly speaking, a range of visual and narrative creations are produced. They are proposals, experiments for a water inventory, and to collectively imagine their futures.
At the crossroads of the arts, sciences and resistances, the collective Hydromondes lead bioregional water surveys (its uses, its infrastructure and its cultural imaginaries) – always in connection with local areas and their inhabitants. We come from different backgrounds : architecture, theatre, hydrology, community education, landscape architecture, biology, music, ethnography, engineering sciences… By pooling our expertise and our visions, we create ecologically and socially just representations of living spaces.

As part of the exhibition Living Lake Léman, Hydromondes is offering a music and movement workshop to explore the currents and winds of Lake Geneva.
This workshop invites you to discover in music and movement, the currents of Lake Geneva according to the prevailing regional winds. This dance from the Lake Geneva region offers a sensory learning experience, by becoming a drop of water in the lake and following, alongside neighbouring drops, the currents of Lake Geneva.
A workshop with Anna Desraux (actress – musician) or Jeanne Mermet (engineer – musician) and Gabriel Cotte (limnologist – science communicator).
As part of the Lake Geneva living being exhibition, Hydromondes is offering a workshop on the breathing of Lake Geneva and song-writing.
Based on scientific data, try to breathe like Lake Geneva and express its breath and her life using verbs which will be the starting point for songs to be written and set to music.

As part of the Lake Geneva living being exhibition, Hydromondes is offering a guided tour of the exhibition followed by a moving debate on Lake Geneva.
The shifting debate is a educational and community education facilitation technique where participants position themselves physically in space in relation to divisive statements.
It promotes the public speaking, argumentation, active listening and allows one to change position if the arguments of others are convincing. Of controversies and contentious issues concerning Lake Geneva will thus be debated in groups based on the 7 faces of Lake Geneva on display. Prepare your arguments!
As part of the Lake Geneva living being exhibition, Hydromondes invites you to come and create a flag for the lake bioregion. You are invited to make a flag representing your connection to water : a memory connected to a river, a stream, a brook or even Lake Geneva.
These places are part of our lives and our memories: walks, swimming, get-togethers with family or friends. This workshop is an opportunity to share the places we love, but also to reflect on their vulnerability to climate change. Your flag will be able to mix drawings, symbols and words to express your relationship with water.
As part of the “Léman living being” exhibition”, this Hydromondes animation invites you to discover Lake Geneva, its history, how it works and the threats it faces from its shores.
This interactive format enables participants to share their knowledge about the lake and their thoughts on its preservation. This an outdoor trip offers the opportunity to discover the lake from home, school, work or holiday destinations. It is therefore possible to’understand the Lake Geneva environment through its ecosystems of the site visited and the living creatures encountered.
As part of the “Léman living being” exhibition”, Hydromondes invites you on a walk along the banks of the Arve to learn more about this tributary of the Rhône. This excursion invites you to discover the Arve, which flows into the Rhône.
Where does water come from? Where does it go? What does it pass through? We take the time to situate ourselves within the great water cycle in discussing the concept of a river basin. The theme of river health acting as a unifying theme for this excursion, several periods of’observation and diagnosis of the river mark out its land survey.
