As part of our exhibition on sublacustrine forests, the ASL invites you to discover one of the new threats to the meadows of Lake Geneva: the Great Lagarosiphon. This invasive plant, which originated in Africa, is a direct competitor to Lake Geneva plants and risks disrupting the lake ecosystem.

During a guided tour of the exhibition, Diane Maitre, biologist specialising in the flora and fauna of Lake Genevaworking for the Office cantonal de l'eau (GE), will be sharing her expertise. She will present the challenges posed by this invasive plant, its impact on the Lake Geneva ecosystem and the methods used to limit its spread.

The "Forêts sous-lacustres" exhibition runs from 6 June to 20 September 2024 at Espace Léman, rue des Cordiers 2, 1207 Geneva. This exhibition invites you to immerse yourself in the sub-lacustrine herbariums of Lake Geneva. Come and discover their importance, the life they harbour and the issues involved in preserving them. 🌿

Guided tours are planned on Saturdays and Thursdays, open to all. There will also be events for schools and families with children, as well as talks by specialists. Registration is free but compulsory at registration form for workshops.
