Join us for the first webinar of the project Lemanscope ! Hosted by Jean-Luc Loizeau, senior lecturer and researcher in the Department of F.-A. Forel at the University of Geneva, this webinar will look at a crucial phenomenon: the mixing of the waters of Lake Geneva and the implications for the lake ecosystem.

In 2024, Lake Geneva equalled a record of 12 consecutive years without complete mixing. This is a phenomenon that has not been observed since the period from 1986 to 1999. If this worrying trend continues in 2025, it will be the longest period without complete overturning ever recorded since records began in the 1950s.

On the programme: physical mechanisms, the consequences of a lack of mixing, the thermal balance of Lake Geneva and the effects of global warming.

When : See you on Monday 25 November from 7pm to 8pm (online)!
Registration is free (but compulsory): https://asleman.org/webinaires/
