Search, observe and play to understand better
The «Au fil de l'eau» programme brings together several NGOs — BirdLife La Sauge, the Pro Natura centres of Champ-Pittet and Les Grangettes, the Maison de la Rivière and the Association for the Protection of Lake Geneva — which offer over 350 free animations to enable children to discover the richness of the aquatic environments in Vaud.
Thanks to the support of the Canton of Vaud, we are offering free lake shore activities for classes and out-of-school groups, featuring a variety of educational methods based on the «experiencing nature» approach, in line with the objectives of the French-speaking Switzerland study plan (PER).
What if, to better understand Lake Geneva, we went to meet it directly?
Age 4-12 years
For whom: the Vaud classes, the activities extracurricular activities and the holiday clubs
Duration: 90 to 120 mins.
Period: May to October
Children discover Lake Geneva, its history, its formation and some of its particularities.
3 modules from the 4 proposed are chosen according to the children's age, the location and the conditions of the activity.
Through a food chain game, children discover the interactions between living things and understand what can disrupt this fragile balance (pollution, invasive alien species, climate change, artificialisation of riverbanks, etc.).
To finish, the children are thinking about actions and deeds that they can put in place, on their own scale, to help preserve Lake Geneva.
