Exhibition – LAKE LEMAN A LIVING BEING

-

at

Through drawings, stories, sculptures, photographs, films and sound creations, this exhibition created by the Hydromondes collective offers a fresh perspective on Western Europe's largest alpine lake. Lake Geneva appears as a multifaceted living entity, connected to its rivers, forests, glaciers, and both human and non-human inhabitants. By exploring the biographies of its tributaries and the imaginings of a future Lake Geneva bioregion, the exhibition invites visitors to better understand the interdependencies that shape this territory and to imagine new ways of living in it, celebrating it and caring for it.

Introduction to the collective:
The Hydromondes association was created in the course of 2022, but it is the result of meetings and reflections going back several years, touching closely or from afar upon what binds us all together: water.
At the crossroads of the arts, sciences and struggles, the collective conducts bioregional investigations into water, its uses, its infrastructures, and its imaginaries, in connection with the territories and their inhabitants.
Our working method is based on assessing the present and understanding the past, in order to envision future possibilities.
Through this method, we address issues of subsistence, the relationship with environments and the commons of the bioregions we are investigating, while offering spaces for discussion and meetings between residents, users, managers and local authorities.
We then experiment with various formats for presenting these investigations, drawing on both the visual and performing arts, intended for all audiences including children.
Activities and workshops: Wednesdays and Saturdays, check the events diary.
