Citizen Science Helvetia 2025 (CitSciHelvetia'25), the Swiss conference on citizen and participatory science, of which the ASL is a member of the committee, will be held on 5 and 6 June 2025 at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and will focus on "Citizen science in action. Collaboration between civil society and academia".
Initiated by the Fondation Science et Cité and supported by the Swiss Academies of Science and UNIL, this year's event is being organised by the ColLaboratoire (UNIL's collaborative and participatory action research unit). You are invited to take part by submitting a contribution on the challenges of collaboration between civil society and academic institutions in one of the six thematic areas described below.
The partnership between civil society and academia has never been more relevant. The challenges facing our contemporary societies are ever more numerous and complex. Loss of biodiversity, climate disruption, damaged social links, health challenges, etc. They all call for collective responses that draw on the wealth of all the knowledge involved, whether scientific, professional or experiential.
The last few years have shown a fundamental trend: citizen and participatory science projects are multiplying and attest to the vitality of a new way of producing knowledge in the service of the common good. This is an encouraging trend. However, partnerships between civil society and academia require special care and skills, as well as favourable institutional conditions that need to be strengthened.
