1: Duck flea or swimmer's itch

A trematode parasite that carries out its natural cycle via hosts. One is a water bird such as a duck and the other a mollusc such as a snail. When the parasite is in the form of a microscopic larva, the Cercaria, it leaves the mollusc to seek out a waterbird. Occasionally, it finds the wrong target and penetrates the bather's epidermis. Small pimples appear, accompanied by severe itching.
Don't worry, it's nothing to get worked up about!
Here are a few recommendations to help you avoid them:

  • Shower immediately after swimming,
  • Dry yourself vigorously,
  • Avoid scratching yourself.
